How to Get started

New or prospective members can make contact with the club by either coming along to a club night (see the Meetings page) or or by joining one of the advertised trips (see the Trips page) and getting to know others on the trip.

The club secretary is always available to talk to you. His number is at the top of the page, or you can email the club using the address at the top of the page.

Below are the formal rules which we all have to have, don't let them put you off making contact. We always welcome keen people and families.

Joining Requirements

All applications for new membership of Alpine Sports Club should be supported by a Proposer and Seconder  who will act as sponsor to the new member once membership is approved. The sponsors of a new member should be current members of the club and both should accept responsibility for informing the new member of the club organisation and the customs of Alpine Sports Club Inc. If you don't have anyone that can act as a sponsor then you can apply for membership anyway. We are not likely to turn keen active people or families away just because they don't yet know anyone in the club.

All members are expected to participate in some of the work involved in running the club activities and our three buildings. New members are encouraged to participate in one day tramp and two overnight club activities within year of joining Alpine Sports Club Inc. A Ruapehu work party is just such an overnight activity.

New members need to send a completed Membership Application form and enclose the and Full Rate annual subscription. This does not give automatic entry to the club. New Member applications will then be considered by the club committee.

Members of Alpine Sports Club receive the club magazine by mail and are entitled to preferential bookings at member rates when using the club facilities and when going on club trips and instruction weekends.

Reduced rates may apply for prospective members joining later in the year. Contact the Membership Officer or the Club Secretary for details.

You can ring the Club Secretary (see the top of the page),  email the club or print a copy from this site (see below) to obtain a copy of the membership form and the subscription rates. If you go on a club trip then you can ask your trip leader to obtain a membership form for you.
